From what I’ve read on dancehallmusic.de, Yardbeat took the title in last nights Modern Warfare Clash against City Lock in Berlin.
Seems like it was a deserved win, trough City Lock only took the first round and Yardbeat the other rounds plus DfD.

You definitly asking yourself how come he told us about the death of this column and now he’s like doing a Jay-Z Move short afterwards. Okay, lemme try to explain it. I did this Interview with the following sound a long while ago, and it happend that the answers end up in my spam folder and i totally forgot about it, so it would be unfair to the soundguys not to publish the interview. But this gonna be the last one for real. I think.
So enough with the long words, here comes the interview with one of romes top-sounds and successful soundkillers, who gonna clash ‘gainst reigning Riddimclash Champs City Lock in two weeks,
#Please introduce your Sound and all the members to the readers.
We’re Dancehall Soldiers straight from Rome, Italy. We’re just 2 members: Rosco is the Selecta and Peppe is the Mc. That’s all!
#When was the founding of your Sound and since when do you djing?
Across 2000 Rosco and another boy called Pisolo, used to play reggae and hip hop in a little club in their hometown on Rome’s seaside. By the way, the passion for the reggae music grew up until the necessity to found a real sound system. So in November 2003 they started this project called “Dancehall Soldiers” with Rosco as a selecta and Pisolo on the mic. In January 2004 Peppe joined the crew as an mc, so they started to do dancehall in many Rome’s clubs. After few months Pisolo left the sound, and ‘till now, we’re spreading reggae vibes anywhere!
#Can you describe which style your sound plays mostly?
We play all kinds of reggae music, from foundation to the latest Jamaican releases inna original juggling style. Dubplates and specials are fundamentals in our selections.
#Please tell me about the most important cornermarks in the sounds history, like clashes, the baddest dances, etc.
In our hearts there are a lot of big nights: first of all our first B’Bash with the Mighty Pow Pow Movement with 1200 people blowing candles with us!! J Then our performance before Capleton live show in Rome. A real mad night with over 5000 people blazing fire and feeling the vibes!!! Amazing were also our 2 won soundclashes: one against Bashfire from Italy hosted by One Love Hi Pawa, and the latest one against Kalibandulu. A project that we carried on for 3 years with Gramigna sound, was the “Riddim Night”, an exclusive weekly party. After that, starting from 2009, we,Gramigna and another 3 romans sound (Big Bamboo, Yaga Yaga & Frisco) built up the “Bash Fever” crew. Every Saturday in the same club here in Rome, there’s a great dancehall hosted by one of these crew, where you can find wicked guests from all over the world. We also publish a free press called “Bash Fever Magazine” summing up all the latest news ‘bout local dancehall and Jamaican vibes. Last but not least, our radio experience. Since 2005 our reggae radio show called “Roots, Reality & Culture” goes on air every Tuesday from 11 pm to 1 am on Radio Città Aperta.
#Which plans do you have for your sound in the near future and what are the real longtime plans for it?
In our near future, we want to win our first international clash on February 2010 against the Riddim Clash’s winner aka City Lock. We would like to continue spreading vibes all over Europe and then only time will tell!
#Which persons, sounds, artists have influenced you musicallywise?
It’s too long to name all of them, but for sure some clash addicted sound system like: Bass Odissey, King Addis, Jaro etc. etc. For our Juggling attitude, we’ve to say thanks to Black Chiney and Pow Pow. Moreover we can’t forget One Love Hi Pawa: we grew up in their yard.
#What was the first dubplate you ever voiced, and do you still play it?
Our first dub was Warrior King on the Queen Majesty riddim. It was recorded during Warrior King’s first Italian tour, now we’ve remix it on the Bobby Babylon riddim and sometimes we play it.
Thank you Dancehall Soldiers, and sorry about the delay. Good luck for the upcoming clash, may the best sound win.
